Political agreement to improve the governance and integrity of the European standardisation system
On 12th October 2022, a political agreement has been reached between the European Parliament and EU Member States on the amendment to the European Standardisation Regulation, proposed by the Commission as part of the Standardisation Strategy presented on 2 February 2022. Trilogue negotiations have now concluded, paving the way for final approval of the legal text by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union.

Common charger for the EU single market - Now it's a reality!
The European Parliament adopted new rules Tuesday introducing a common charger for small electronic devices like smartphones and tablets.
The new law means that starting in the fall of 2024, USB type-C will be the standard charging port for smartphones, tablets, e-readers, keyboards, computer mice, GPS devices, digital cameras, headphones, headsets and earbuds, hand-held video game consoles and portable speakers. Starting in 2026, USB-C will also become the norm for laptop chargers.
