Description:

Plastic and plastic packaging is an integral part of our everyday life, but our handling of the material is not sustainable. Therefore, there is now more than ever a focus on the production, handling and recycling of plastic to create a more circular and green economy. Research and innovation have a crucial role to play in developing new solutions and piloting new approaches. Regulation is a prerequisite if we are to meet the ambitious goals on recyclability and plastics in Europe and standards are currently being developed to facilitate, among other things, documentation, circularity and quality of recycled plastic packaging.

This webinar puts focus on the interplay between regulation, standardisation, research and innovation and how these in unity can boost plastic packaging recyclability in Europe.

At the webinar, the European Commission and the European Technical Committee for standardisation of packaging will talk about upcoming regulations, standards and opportunities. Finally, European Horizon Projects will give examples of their work with recycling plastic packaging and research and innovation projects can learn more about how to get engaged via HSbooster.eu.

The webinar is intended for the research and innovation community, but anyone interested in plastic recycling and recycled plastic with an emphasis on plastic packaging can benefit from participating.

Who should attend?

The event is open to all actors with an interest in plastic packaging including EU-funded R&I projects, research organisations, associations linked to plastic packaging and recycling, standardisation and domain experts, Government and Policy Makers that can make and enforce rules, packaging industry and companies that produce or use plastics.
